Are we throwing Palin out with the bathwater?

A reader writes:

On three occasions in the past week, you've posted pieces that take Palin supporters who clearly aren't stable and made them representative of Sarah Palin fans, and worse, Sarah Palin herself. We're not all hicks and many of us have college educations in case you didn't know. I'm a scientist. I know you probably don't believe me, because why would anyone in their right mind support Sarah Palin? Every candidate has brain-dead supporters. Why don't you go find a Mitt Romney guy who's nutty, or a Mike Huckabee religious loon? Stop stereotyping us. That's the liberal's job.
