A real estate group representing 95% of all commercial real estate transactions in Utah is pleading with state lawmakers to drink up with Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman.
The group cites a study from 2005 to 2006 in which corporate executives expressed reluctance to do business in and with the state due to a) the perception that Mormons run everything and b) Utah's liquor laws.
In case you hadn't heard of those laws, you have to fill out a membership application and pay a membership fee before you can drink in one of the state's private clubs (i.e. bars).
If you're a resident, maybe you have the time. If you're a tourist or out-of-state businessman, you decide to stay in and watch TV in the hotel room.
